Paper Abstract:      The Conceptual Pond" is a persuasive application designed to engage users in reflection and at the same time acquire qualitative information and transform it into digital, generic information for self-assessment and evaluation. The information may be multi-facetted and consist of both description and connotation. Examples mostly derive from the mediation of culture but the application is no less relevant for evaluation, gathering of generic data and supporting reflective epistemological processes in other areas where the study of reception and connotation takes center stage. This could be e.g. in the fields of social sciences, human computer interaction, learning, psychology and medicine. .Development of "The Conceptual Pond" is undertaken with a strong emphasis on persuasive principles and intuitive, graphical interface and navigation. The focus is on user-freedom and utilizing the persuasive and epistemological potential of this. At the same time, fundamental questions of validity, cognitive styles, learning strategies, and ethical considerations are in play.
